Growing up, Lia’s father was from South Dublin, and even though her family had moved to Australia, they often visited her grandfather in Omagh, County Tyrone. During one of their visits, Lia attended a traveling circus show in Belfast at the age of 7. She was captivated by the glitz and glamour of the performance, especially by the beautiful showgirls featured in the show. This experience ignited Lia’s passion for show business, and she knew she wanted to pursue a career in the performing arts.
Lia worked tirelessly to become a dancer, training at Dargie Fultime in Sydney, Australia. When she saw that Circus Extreme was looking for dancers and that their European tour would culminate in Belfast, she saw it as a sign and applied for the job. Successfully landing the role, Lia joined the circus in April of this year, fulfilling her lifelong dream of being part of a circus.
“It was a dream come true to be offered the job. Running away with the circus has always been my goal, and the fact that the tour ends in Belfast makes it even more special,” Lia shared. “Performing here feels like a full-circle moment after all these years.”
