Preparing for EMERGE: Traffic Advisory and Road Closure Information

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has issued a warning to road users in anticipation of the upcoming two-day music festival, EMERGE, set to take place in South Belfast. Taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend, this highly-anticipated event will feature international DJs headlining the dance and electronic music festival at the Boucher Playing Fields on August 24 and 25. As excitement builds for the festival, it is important for attendees to be aware of the road closures and diversions that will be put in place by event organizers in the surrounding area between 2pm and midnight.

Road Closures and Lane Restrictions

Starting from around 3pm, a lane closure will be implemented between the Shane Retail Park junction and Boucher Crescent to facilitate the flow of traffic and ensure the safety of festival-goers and local residents. Additionally, Lislea Drive, from the junction with Lisburn Road, will be closed from 1pm onwards. As the event progresses into the evening, there will be a series of road closures between 9pm and 12am (midnight) to manage the influx of traffic and ensure the smooth running of the festival:

– Boucher Road will be fully closed to traffic between Tates Avenue and the junction with Stockmans Lane.
– Stockmans Lane will be fully closed between Kennedy Way and Lisburn Road.
– Slip roads onto the M1 at Kennedy Way (Northbound) and Stockmans Lane (Southbound) will be inaccessible.
– Kennedy Way city-bound from the Andersonstown Road junction towards the M1 will also be closed.

Diversions and Parking Information

To assist motorists navigating the area during the event, diversions will be clearly signposted to guide traffic away from the closed roads. For those attending the concert, parking for coaches will be available on Balmoral Road and Balmoral Link. It is important to note that there will be no designated pickup and drop-off points within the road closure area, so attendees should plan their transportation accordingly. Superintendent Gavin Kirkpatrick emphasizes the importance of respecting local businesses and residents, especially when leaving the concert venue. He urges concertgoers to prioritize their safety and well-being, reminding them to make transportation arrangements in advance and to stay together with friends throughout the evening.

Ensuring a Safe and Enjoyable Experience

Superintendent Kirkpatrick’s message to attendees is clear: have a great night, stay safe, and make positive memories at the EMERGE event. Responsibility and mutual care are key components of a successful festival experience, and concertgoers are encouraged to look out for one another and seek assistance from event staff or the police if needed. Public transport options are also available for those looking to travel to and from the event, with details accessible at www.translink.co.uk.

As preparations for EMERGE continue, it is important for attendees to familiarize themselves with the traffic advisories and road closure information to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. By following the guidelines set forth by the PSNI and event organizers, concertgoers can contribute to a safe and successful festival for all involved.
