PSNI Receives 92 Daily Christmas Domestic Abuse Calls: Statistics and Response
Police in Northern Ireland were inundated with an alarming average of 92 calls per day regarding domestic abuse incidents during the Christmas period. From December 20, 2024, to January 2, 2025, a total of 1,288 calls were made to authorities, marking a slight decrease of 48 from the previous year’s count of 1,336.

On January 1, 2025, the authorities received the highest number of reported domestic abuse incidents, with a staggering 127 calls flooding in. This was closely followed by December 27, when 109 calls were made, and December 26, with 102 reports. In comparison, the highest number of calls during the 2023/24 period was on December 26, when 133 calls were recorded.
