This weekend, I had the opportunity to dine aboard Holland America Line’s Zuiderdam while it was docked in Belfast. The meal I enjoyed was a true culinary delight, showcasing the ship’s excellence in food preparation. The experience began with the Mozzarella di Bufala, a dish that perfectly set the tone for the rest of the afternoon. The creamy mozzarella paired with grilled eggplant, Gernica pesto, and micro basil created a harmonious balance of flavors and textures. The meal continued with the Grilled Lamb Chops served with Truffled Polenta, broad beans, and chanterelles. The lamb was cooked to perfection, juicy on the inside and seared on the outside, while the truffled polenta added a luxurious touch to the dish. The dessert, Tres Leches Cake with coconut meringue and forest berries, was a delightful and indulgent way to end the meal. Accompanying the meal was a glass of Santa Helena Private Select Chardonnay, with crisp acidity and citrus notes that complemented each dish beautifully. Dining aboard the Zuiderdam was truly exceptional, with the attention to detail in preparation and presentation evident in every dish. If this experience is representative of what guests can expect on a Holland America Line voyage, then they are in for a gastronomic treat. Overall, the meal was a memorable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a delicious and refined dining experience.
