Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Dimitar Berbatov are set to take part in a charity fundraising match in Belfast this Saturday. Alongside them, former Premier League stars like Keith Gillespie, Wes Brown, Stiliyan Petrov, and Jermaine Pennant will be joining forces to play against a Tea With Me FC team led by comedian Shane Todd. The match, which will feature MMA stars Paul Hughes and Rhys McKee, boxer Sean McComb, and former ring star Paddy Barnes, will have a fighting theme to it. The event will be held at Seaview stadium on May 24 and will be in support of TAMHI (Tackling Awareness of Mental Health Issues).
Giggs and Berbatov shared their excitement for the upcoming match in a video posted on TAMHI’s social media pages. Giggs expressed his delight, stating, “I’m delighted to say I’ll be playing in the Premier League XI at Seaview on May 24th. Looking forward to seeing you, get yourself down there, you’ll have a great time.” Berbatov echoed Giggs’ sentiments, saying, “I’m delighted to announce I will be coming to Belfast to play for the Premier League XI…I’ll see you there.” TAMHI head-coordinator Mickey Meehan mentioned that other confirmed names include Jermaine Beckford and Tommy Johnson, with more big names expected to join the lineup.
The event, organized by TAMHI with the support of Shane Todd’s Tea With Me podcast and The Prize Guy, will also include a charity dinner at the Lansdowne Hotel. Tickets for the match and charity dinner are currently on sale, priced at £20 for adults and £12 for kids, and can be purchased from the Crusaders Football Club website. Mickey emphasized the support received from various parties, stating, “That night there will also be a charity dinner at the Lansdowne Hotel, who are graciously giving us the rooms for free. Everyone has been a big support.” In addition to the match, there will be a raffle on the night, with The Prize Guy offering a special prize exclusively for those attending the event inside the stadium.
Not really sure why this matters, but it’s clear that the event is generating a lot of interest, with a star-studded lineup and exciting activities planned for the day. Fans are encouraged to turn out in numbers to show their support for the cause. So, mark your calendars for May 24 and head down to Seaview stadium for what promises to be a memorable day of football and fundraising.
